Sometimes Red Kangaroos are considered menaces because they also gather grass and different plants, which thus competes with livestock. That's why it is evident that, in those areas where the vegetation is limited, the kangaroos are destroyed.

Red Kangaroos - Endangered Species
The Red Kangaroo is an animal that is considered to be a pest and is eliminated for the sake of its skin and meat. The skin of the kangaroos is also valuable as overseas manufacturers are beginning to demand it for leather goods. These animals are also considered to be pests because they eat not only the grass but also the roots of plants. A herd of kangaroos can destroy a field in a very short time.
Nowadays the Red Kangaroo is endangered and its species status is classified as "disappearing from the earth". If this animal continues to be destroyed, to be killed as a pest, the population of them may disappear from our planet soon.
There are special management programs that the Australian Government holds. These programs set a conservation quota limit for the number of kangaroos that can be harvested commercially each year.
Many representatives of these animals are reserved in the national parks where they are protected from the elimination. Naturally no harvesting of Red Kangaroos is allowed in national parks, state forests, or conservation reserves.
